ABOUT CASUARINA STUDIOS

Established in 2021 in Vancouver, B.C., Casuarina is a full-service 2D and 3D visual effects studio dedicated to crafting exceptional VFX for feature films and episodic entertainment. Our team of seasoned industry professionals excels at delivering both simple and complex visual effects, ensuring your creative vision is realized on time and within budget.

Casuarina was founded by VFX veteran Gregory Watkins and Annita Watkins, who bring over 25 years of experience as artists, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the creative industries. Gregory and Annita are Barbadian born and raised, but pursued their careers and raised their family in Canada.

How to pronounce Casuarina (ka·zhr·ee·nuh)—start with saying "casual" and you're halfway there. But we love to hear all the ways and accents possible so give it a go and have fun with it.

Vancouver & Barbados—we believe our idyllic locations help us attract top talent so that we may serve our clients even better.

Our Barbados studio is a cottage-style space nestled among mature tropical trees, just one block from the beach on the vibrant south coast, surrounded by shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Our Vancouver studio is set up for work-from-home with our servers, workstations and render farm co-located in a secure data-centre where we maintain a small IT office with our own dedicated full time IT support.

About

In 2023, Casuarina served as the sole VFX vendor for the critically acclaimed feature film The Order, starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult on Amazon. In 2024, we contributed to Season 2 of The Recruit for Lionsgate on Netflix, and served as the lead VFX vendor for the post-apocalyptic series Earth Abides for MGM+.

Casuarina has achieved security clearances for Lionsgate, Skydance, Amazon MGM and is actively pursuing TPN certification. We carry Cyber Security Liability Insurance to ensure the utmost protection for our clients.

We are passionate about creating stunning visuals, but we also value a healthy and sustainable work-life balance—a principle often at odds with the fast-paced demands of our industry. With this in mind, we expanded to Barbados in 2022, offering a distinctive VFX work location that embodies this philosophy.
